An inflatable test plug, also called a pipe test plug, supports hydraulic or air testing of pipes and sewers. Published TP rows run from TP-DN150 to TP-DN1000 in a 4 bar series and a 6 bar series. Plugs for pipeline testing and flow diversion

Testing plugs support hydraulic or air testing of pipes and sewers. The catalogue describes checks for cracks, leaks and welding defects, as well as flow diversion during inspection, cleaning or repair.

The brochure gives eight TP models, from TP-DN150 to TP-DN1000, with a working pressure of 4 bar and a back pressure of 3 bar. The catalogue also publishes a 6 bar series for the same eight models, with 6 bar maximum inflation pressure and 5 bar maximum back pressure.

Read model names and dimensions separately

A model designation is not the same as the description dimension: for example, TP-DN150 is described as 100 mm / 4 in. The brochure does not label that dimension as a supported pipe-diameter range. Confirm the actual pipe fit before ordering.

Test plugs, blocking plugs and bypass plugs

Use a testing plug when the task is a hydraulic or air test, or flow diversion during inspection, cleaning or repair. Use a multi-size or single-size plug when the task is temporary blocking. Use an MSBP model when the task needs a bypass pipe plug.

The testing-plug table is the TP series only. MS and MSBP rows stay on the multi-size page, and SS rows stay on the single-size page.

Steam plugs are on the multi-size page

This page is the TP testing-plug series only: TP-DN150 to TP-DN1000, in a 4 bar series and a 6 bar series. It is not the steam-plug table.

Steam-plug rows are published on the multi-size pipe plug page. The catalogue note rates those rows for steam up to 150 °C. A pipeline test and a steam-lining task use different tables. The brochure mentions high-pressure testing-plug customization; the published TP rows are the 4 bar and 6 bar series above, and any other pressure has to be confirmed for the exact configuration.

What is an inflatable test plug?

An inflatable test plug, also called a pipe test plug, supports hydraulic or air testing of pipes and sewers, and flow diversion during inspection, cleaning or repair. When the pipe is a sewer, buyers also call it an inflatable sewer plug.

Eight models, TP-DN150 to TP-DN1000, are published in two series. The 4 bar series lists 4 bar maximum inflation pressure and 3 bar maximum back pressure on every row. The 6 bar series lists 6 bar and 5 bar. A model name is not the pipe diameter: TP-DN150 is described as 100 mm / 4 in.

How is a test plug different from a blocking plug or a bypass pipe plug?

A temporary blocking plug on this site is a multi-size MS plug or a single-size SS plug used to close a pipe for isolation. A bypass pipe plug is an MSBP model on the multi-size page, which keeps a flow path. A testing plug is the TP series.

Do not order an isolation or bypass model when the task is a pressure test, and do not order a TP model when the task is only temporary blocking or bypass.

Are pipe inspection plugs listed on this page?

Buyers sometimes search for inspection plugs when flow has to be diverted during pipeline inspection, cleaning or repair. On this site, that role is described for these testing plugs, together with hydraulic or air testing of pipes and sewers.
