Engineering playbook
CIPP Point-Repair Resin and Fiberglass Calculator
Estimate fiberglass area and mixed resin for a cylindrical CIPP point repair from pipe diameter, repair length and layer count. Plan material before an RFQ.
Who is this field playbook for?
Estimate the fiberglass area and mixed resin for a cylindrical CIPP point repair from the pipe internal diameter, repair length and number of layers. The published planning rate is 1.5–2.0 kg/m²; overlap, waste and temperature still need a site allowance.

Point-repair resin and fiberglass consumption calculator
Estimate the fiberglass area and mixed resin quantity for a cylindrical patch. The calculation uses an internal pipe circumference, the repair length and the number of layers. The published planning rate is 1.5–2.0 kg of mixed resin per square metre of fiberglass.
Fiberglass area: 2.83 m²
Mixed resin: 4.24–5.65 kg
Circumference: 0.942 m · area per layer: 0.94 m²
- Published working and cure time
- 20 min working time · 40 min cure time at the published seasonal condition.
- Mix ratio
- Components A and B are mixed at 1:2 by volume. The estimate is total mixed resin; measure each component with the supplier's volumetric method.
Planning estimate only. It excludes overlap, trim waste, roller loss, surface profile and temperature-dependent working time. Confirm the resin formulation, fiberglass grade, layer design and technical data sheet for the supplied batch.
How to use the material estimate
- 1
Measure the host pipe
Use the internal diameter at the repair and the actual repair length. For a non-circular or badly deformed pipe, the cylindrical area is only a planning estimate.
- 2
Set the layer schedule
Enter the number of fiberglass layers specified for the repair. The published preparation guidance uses at least three layers; the calculator allows lower counts only for comparison.
- 3
Add site waste
The result excludes overlap, trim, roller loss, surface profile and temperature effects. Add the project allowance before ordering resin and reinforcement.
What the estimate excludes
- Overlap, edge trim and reinforcement waste.
- Resin left in the bucket, roller or mixing equipment.
- Surface profile and the condition of the host pipe.
- Temperature-dependent working time and cure time.
- The structural layer design and any project-specific test.
Confirm the resin formulation, fiberglass grade and layer design against the supplied technical data sheet before installation.
Frequently asked questions
How much resin does a CIPP point repair use?
The published planning rate is 1.5–2.0 kg of mixed resin per square metre of fiberglass. Multiply the cylindrical surface area by the number of layers, then apply the rate. The estimate excludes overlap, trim waste, roller loss, surface profile and temperature-dependent working time, so add a site allowance before ordering.
What mix ratio does the calculator assume?
The resin system on the product page is mixed at 1:2 by volume for components A and B. The displayed quantity is total mixed resin, not the amount of each component. Measure each component with the supplier method and confirm the technical data sheet for the supplied batch.
How many fiberglass layers should a point repair use?
The published preparation guidance uses at least three layers. The calculator allows a lower layer count for planning comparison, but a lower count is not a repair design. Confirm the layer schedule, fiberglass grade, resin formulation and host-pipe condition with Reliance before installation.
