Engineering playbooks
Trenchless Repair Engineering Playbooks
Free field calculators and selection playbooks for inflatable pipe plugs, CIPP point-repair resin and repair packer entry checks.
Who are these field playbooks for?
These free playbooks are for sewer crews, trenchless contractors, estimators and municipal maintenance teams preparing a pipe repair or isolation job. They turn the published catalogue data into a practical first check for plug back pressure, CIPP point-repair material and packer entry. They do not replace the measured site survey, the project safety procedure or a dimensioned drawing.

Each tool is free, requires no account and links back to the published product data used in the calculation.
Inflatable Pipe Plug Sizing and Back-Pressure Playbook
Convert water head to pressure, shortlist published inflatable plug models by pipe bore, and check back-pressure limits before an isolation or testing job.
Open playbookField calculatorCIPP Point-Repair Resin and Fiberglass Calculator
Estimate fiberglass area and mixed resin for a cylindrical CIPP point repair from pipe diameter, repair length and layer count. Plan material before an RFQ.
Open playbookField calculatorCIPP Repair Packer Entry and Sizing Checker
Check published repair packer models against measured pipe bore and the smallest manhole opening, including deflated diameter and clearance.
Open playbookHow to use a field result
- 1
Measure the actual pipe
Record the internal diameter, pipe material and condition. A nominal DN is not a substitute for the measured bore when the plug or packer has to fit.
- 2
Check the job condition
For plugs, use the upstream water head and the published back-pressure limit. For packers, use the smallest manhole or access opening and the deflated packer envelope.
- 3
Confirm before dispatch
Send the measured dimensions, selected model, accessory arrangement and job conditions with the enquiry. Reliance confirms the supply scope and any drawing needed for sign-off.
What these tools do not do
They do not approve a model, certify a repair, calculate surge or confirm a confined-space procedure. A catalogue back-pressure or deflated dimension is a published reference, not a project approval. Where the job involves a live sewer, a pressure test or a structural repair, confirm the method with the responsible engineer and the site safety plan.
