Engineering playbook
CIPP Repair Packer Entry and Sizing Checker
Check published repair packer models against measured pipe bore and the smallest manhole opening, including deflated diameter and clearance.
Who is this field playbook for?
Check published repair packer models against the measured pipe internal diameter and the smallest manhole or entry opening. The tool compares the published deflated diameter plus a clearance with the opening; bends, ovality, lifting equipment and the full assembly still need review.

Packer manhole entry and deflated size checker
Enter the measured pipe internal diameter and the smallest manhole or entry opening. The table lists published repair packer models for that pipe and flags models whose published deflated diameter plus the clearance can pass the opening.
12 published models cover DN300; 12 pass the entry check with 20 mm clearance.
| Model | Configuration | Pipe range | Deflated diameter | Deflated length | Entry check |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RP 200-300 | Standard | DN200–300 | 150 mm | 760 mm | Fits with clearance |
| RP-L 200-300 | Standard | DN200–300 | 150 mm | 860 mm | Fits with clearance |
| RPBP 200-300 | Bypass | DN200–300 | 150 mm | 760 mm | Fits with clearance |
| RPBP-L 200-300 | Bypass | DN200–300 | 150 mm | 860 mm | Fits with clearance |

Entry check only. Bends, ovality, lifting equipment, confined-space procedures and the complete assembly envelope still require review. Published deflated diameter is a catalogue value; request a dimensioned drawing for the selected model.
How to check packer entry
- 1
Measure the pipe and the opening
Record the pipe internal diameter and the smallest manhole, chamber or access opening on the route. Use the actual opening, not the nominal manhole size.
- 2
Compare the deflated envelope
The checker adds your clearance to the published deflated diameter and compares it with the opening. A packer that covers the pipe can still fail the entry check.
- 3
Review the route
Bends, ovality, steps, lifting equipment and the full assembly can change the installation. Request a dimensioned drawing for the selected model when the access is tight.
What the checker cannot see
The calculation uses published deflated dimensions and the opening you enter. It does not inspect the pipe, confirm the lifting plan, verify the confined-space procedure or approve the repair method. Those checks belong to the site survey and the selected installation procedure.
Published deflated diameter is a catalogue value. Ask for the dimensioned drawing of the selected model before a tight entry.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the deflated packer diameter matter?
A repair packer has to pass through the manhole or access opening before it reaches the repair. The published deflated diameter plus the required clearance is compared with the smallest opening. A packer that covers the pipe diameter can still be unsuitable if it cannot enter the access or negotiate the approach.
Is the entry check the same as a packer selection?
No. The check only compares the published deflated diameter and the entered opening. Bends, ovality, pipe condition, lifting equipment, confined-space procedure and the complete assembly envelope still require review. Confirm the selected model, dimensions and installation method with Reliance.
What clearance should I use?
The default is 20 mm, which is a planning allowance rather than a published product limit. Increase it when the opening is rough, the approach is angled or the packer must pass a restriction. Use a dimensioned drawing for the selected model when the access is tight.
