An Instant-Lock sleeve is a mechanical internal pipe repair sleeve: stainless steel with an EPDM jacket, installed from inside the host pipe for localized trenchless point repair. This Small family is published as DN150–600 (9 models, rubber width 400 mm). Stainless steel sleeve and EPDM jacket
The Instant-Lock system combines a stainless steel sleeve with an EPDM rubber jacket for localized trenchless pipeline rehabilitation. The brochure identifies 304L/316L stainless steel and shows separate small-sleeve configurations for wastewater and drinking-water applications.
The small-sleeve brochure table covers DN150–600 and identifies the installation packer for each size. Select against the measured internal pipe diameter and the matching sleeve-and-packer configuration.
Aligning the locking gear strip
The brochure gives the following positioning guidance specifically for Instant-Lock Small.
Position the sleeve on the packer with the ends of the toothed strips facing the same direction, especially when installing multiple sleeves.
Turn the sleeve so the middle of the toothed strip is at the 12 o’clock position. Depending on the viewing direction, the locking gear is at 11 o’clock or 1 o’clock.
After installation, the locking gear finishes at the top, in the 12 o’clock position.
Inflation guidance from the brochure
Inflate the packer slowly until the sleeve expands against the pipe wall, then carry out a second inflation to check that the locking gear is fastened.
The brochure specifies inflation above 3 bar for wastewater configurations and above 5.5 bar for drinking-water configurations. These are application-specific instructions, not maximum pressure ratings for every packer; confirm the selected packer and its operating limits with Reliance.

What is an Instant-Lock internal pipe repair sleeve?
An Instant-Lock sleeve is a mechanical internal pipe repair sleeve: a stainless steel sleeve with an EPDM jacket, installed from inside the host pipe for localized trenchless point repair. It is intended for defects such as cracks, fragmented sections, infiltration and exfiltration, and root intrusion. It is a localized point repair; full-length renewal is a separate scope.
Small: published range DN150–600 (6–24 in), 9 models, common rubber width 400 mm.
Large: published range DN600–2000 (24–80 in), 13 models, common rubber width 300 mm. At the DN600 overlap, confirm the measured internal diameter and which family applies before ordering: Small IL packers or Large SL Big Tool.
Is Instant-Lock a mechanical sleeve or an ASTM F3110 point repair?
Instant-Lock is a mechanical internal pipe repair sleeve: a stainless steel sleeve with an EPDM jacket and a locking gear, installed from inside the host pipe for localized point repair. Host-pipe joint sealing uses the separate internal pipe joint seal.
ASTM F3110-14(2024) is a practice for proper use of a mechanical trenchless point repair sleeve with a locking gear mechanism. Its published scope is 6–72 in (150–1800 mm). That title describes the class of repair buyers ask about. This page does not claim ASTM F3110 certification, listing, or installation compliance for Instant-Lock, and it does not claim NSF/ANSI 61 or NSF/ANSI 372. Published Instant-Lock ranges are DN150–600 (Small) and DN600–2000 (Large). Confirm any project standard with Reliance.
How do I choose between Instant-Lock Small and Large?
Use the measured internal diameter at the repair location, not only the nominal DN label.
When the internal diameter is near DN600, send both the measured internal diameter and CCTV or photos so Reliance can confirm the family and tool.
If the measured internal diameter falls in the Small table’s “fits pipe from/to” window (DN150–600), start with Instant-Lock Small.
If the measured internal diameter falls in the Large table (DN600–2000), use Instant-Lock Large and request the large-sleeve installation procedure. Do not assume the Small brochure’s packer inflation steps apply.
What materials and steel grades are available?
Published materials are 304 / 304L and 316L stainless steel with an EPDM jacket. Small also lists drinking-water (DK) order codes in 316L / 318 where shown on the product table.
Order codes differ by size and grade (Small DN###-S / DN###-S-A / DN###-DK; Large DN###-B / DN###-B-A). Confirm grade, media (wastewater or drinking water), and any project document needs in the enquiry. Do not treat an order code as a certification claim.
What installation equipment do I need?
State wheel, access and entry constraints in the enquiry. Sleeve installation packers are not the same product as pipe repair packers used to place a resin and fiberglass patch.
Small: matching SLP installation packers (for example SLP150, SLP200-300, SLP300-400 and SLP500-600; SLPN600-700 is listed for larger Small-range work). Brochure inflation guidance for Small is to inflate slowly, then inflate a second time to check the locking gear. Wastewater configurations are called out above 3 bar and drinking-water configurations above 5.5 bar. These are application notes from the brochure, not a universal maximum rating for every packer. Confirm packer limits with Reliance.
Large: SL Big Tool for the published large sizes. Request the Large-specific installation procedure.
