5 things to prepare before ordering a pipe repair packer

Before you request a quotation for a pipe repair packer, collect the measurements below and follow the selection guide and point repair equipment checklist. Incomplete enquiries slow matching against the published ranges (standard, bypass, long lateral, and Long, on wheels).

Availability and delivery terms are confirmed per project.

1. Measured internal diameter and pipe material. Record the host pipe internal diameter at the repair location (mm or inches), not only the nominal DN label. Note the pipe material (concrete, clay, PVC, steel or another material) and any ovality or offset at the defect.

2. Defect length and required repair or working length. State the CCTV-measured defect length and the effective repair length you need in one installation. Catalogue families differ: standard and bypass models list a total length per model; long lateral packers are offered in published lengths such as 1000 / 1500 / 2000 / 3000 mm; Long, on wheels models note a maximum repair length per installation, published as 1000 mm for that family. Confirm the length against the model you shortlist.

3. Access path and packer deflated size. Confirm manhole or entry constraints, bends, and whether wheels are required for travel. Compare the published product (deflated) diameter and total length of candidate models, including smaller RP ranges and large DN800+ models, so the packer can reach the defect.

4. Flow, bypass need and pressure limits. Decide whether you need a bypass configuration (the RPBP family on the catalogue) or a standard packer. Note the expected back pressure and stay within the maximum inflation pressure and maximum back pressure published for that model. Catalogue values vary by size; do not assume one bar rating for every packer. A pressure gauge and air hose are listed separately as accessories. Confirm what is included in the quotation.

5. Job method and companion materials. Clarify whether the packer is for resin and fiberglass point repair, another patch method, or general positioning. Sleeves and joint seals are separate product families. Include destination, quantity, any document requirements and a target date.
